Key Achievements & Contributions
I purchased Tri Fit Training in 2024. Since then, I have been so excited to build an environment and culture where athletes can become stronger, healthier, and more confident without sacrificing their safety, longevity in their sport and their love of the sport.
Community Involvement
For the last two years, I have had the privilege of being the committee lead for the Girl's Power Weekend in Crossfield. This event is working to bridge the barriers that still exist in female sport and addressing the high drop out rates of girls in sport. I also work closely with Vecova and FAIM in Airdrie to provide work experience opportunities in an inclusive and supportive environment at Tri Fit Training.
Interview Questions
- What does receiving the POPS Award mean to you?
I am incredibly honoured. When I started in this industry, my mission was to provide a different experience in sport than what alot of us had growing up. Receiving the POPS Award has solidified that making decisions around my business that puts the athletes at the center is valued. - What inspired you to get involved in this sport or activity?
As an adult, I returned to coaching the sports I loved and was witness to experiences in the lives of youth that impacted them negatively long after they left the sport. I know firsthand how powerful sport can be when adults put systems in place that create success long term and want every athlete to experience that same possibility. - Can you share a memorable moment from your journey?
Every day is memorable! I am one of the few lucky people that have their careers and passion co-exist. However if I had to pin point one moment, it would be the inaugural Girls Power Weekend. It was the perfect example of how strong leaders can colloborate to begin making an impact. - What makes Airdrie’s sports & activity community special?
Organizations like the Airdrie Sport’s Council is a great example! I have worked in a number of different communities and this is the first of its type that I have seen! As well, the collaborative spirit. There is an understanding of “the greater good” in this community and I have collaborated with so many individuals and have made so many connections because of that. - Advice for someone starting out in your sport or activity?
Athletes will long remember how we made them feel as an individual instead of what we actually coached them in the gym. - How do you stay motivated and passionate about what you do?
By staying involved in sport myself at different levels! By playing, coaching and running a business around sport, I am privilaged to see many different sides of it and recognize the need for my contributions. - What’s one thing you hope people remember about your contribution?
I hope the legacy of the events that I am involved in continue long past my time with them. Especially Girls Power Weekend! - Is there someone who influenced your journey you’d like to acknowledge?
My husband is a huge influence. He has buckled up as the the spouse of a small business owner but also volunteers as a minor soccer coach, donates his time to my events and inspires all who interact with him to be the best version of themselves.
